Modern Day Tradition & Who Pays For What?

When it comes to weddings,Everything has changed!

In todays modern age formality is increasingly being replaced with the needs and desires of the bride and groom, and their family budget.

Many couples are opting out entirly from old fashioned traditions, whilst others are choosing to go with the more modern twenty first century ways.

Following is just a few of the many 21st century wedding traditions:

Engagement

* Today it is common for either party to propose.

* The giving of an engagement ring from a man to a woman is still practised widely, some woman also choose to give a man a ring also or an engagement gift of sorts.

* Engagement partys are not quite as common as they once were, some couples even decide not to even have one. Those that do usually pay for their own.

Venue

* No longer are couples refined to just being married in a church,in fact there are no rules about ceremony or reception venues - couples can be married anywhere they choose!

* All ceremony and reception cost are now increasingly being payed for by the bride and groom including entertainment, flowers, photography, rental items, decorations, and wedding cake, whilst catering cost (food) are usually covered by the brides family, and alcoholic beverages being payed for by the grooms family.(It is not uncommon however for the bride and groom to pay for them also though)

Attire

* The bride can choose to wear any colour she wants. The traditional white dress is still often used however is no longer essental to propper wedding etiquette. The wedding dressĀ and grooms suitĀ is usually paid for by the bride and groom.

* Bridesmaids and Groomsman normally pay for their own attire that is chosen by the bride and groom,Whilst the parents of Flower Girls and Page Boys pay for the clothing that is chosen by the bride and groom.

Honeymoon

* The Honeymoon is now usually paid for and organised by the bride and groom, some couples choose to have a wishing well at their wedding where guest can contribute money instead of gifts that can help pay for their honeymoon and other wedding expenses.

Another modern option for paying for a wedding can include having all expenses divided evenly between the couple, the bride's family, and the groom's family.
